Basic Function:
Supports the organization’s security operations by monitoring and responding to security alerts, assisting with vulnerability management, maintaining security controls, and collaborating with teams to help protect systems, networks, and data.
About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Information Security team. This is an entry-level role designed for candidates who are early in their cybersecurity careers and eager to build hands-on experience securing systems, networks, and applications. You will work closely with senior security engineers, IT, and development teams to help protect company assets, monitor security controls, and respond to security events.
This position offers strong mentorship, training opportunities, and exposure to a wide range of security technologies and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Security Operations & Monitoring
Assist with monitoring security alerts and events from SIEM, EDR, and other security tools
Triage and escalate security incidents according to established procedures
Help investigate suspicious activity and support incident response efforts
Participate in log analysis and basic forensic data collection
Vulnerability Management
Support vulnerability scanning of networks, systems, and applications
Help analyze scan results and track remediation efforts
Validate fixes and document vulnerability remediation status
Security Engineering & Controls
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of security controls and tools
Support endpoint, network, and cloud security configurations
Help maintain firewall rules, access controls, and security policies
Contribute to security hardening and baseline configuration efforts
Risk, Compliance & Documentation
Assist with security documentation, standards, and procedures
Support compliance efforts (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST)
Help with access reviews, audits, and evidence collection
Maintain accurate records of security activities and findings
Collaboration & Learning
Work closely with IT, DevOps, and engineering teams on security best practices
Participate in security awareness initiatives and internal training
Stay current on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security trends
Actively seek feedback and mentorship to grow technical skills
Qualifications:
US Citizen that is eligible to obtain a Security Clearance. Active Clearance is not required.
Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles (CIA triad, defense-in-depth, least privilege)
Familiarity with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, firewalls)
Exposure to multiple operating systems: Windows, Linux, or macOS
Basic knowledge of security concepts such as:
Malware and phishing attacks
Authentication and authorization
Encryption fundamentals
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to follow processes and document work clearly
Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced security environment
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
Internship, lab, or academic project experience in cybersecurity
Familiarity with security tools such as:
SIEM platforms (Splunk, Sentinel, Elastic)
