About the role

Job Description

The Role:
General Motors pioneers the innovations that move and connect people to what matters. We see a world with zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion. As we move toward this vision, software plays an integral role as it becomes more prominent in our vehicles.

As a Staff Product Manager for Simulation Integrity and Scalability, you will define and execute the strategy and roadmap for enhancing the trust in Simulation to enable high-fidelity, scalable and trustworthy testing of GMs next generation autonomy. This role will drive innovation in how we assess and improve Simulation validity, reliability and scale to provide insights faster to the autonomy development and validation teams.  You’ll lead cross-functional efforts to drive alignment and roadmap across Simulation, ML infrastructure and Autonomy development.

Success requires strong technical judgment, principled decision-making, and the ability to build alignment across engineering, product, infrastructure, and operations teams. You should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, making tough tradeoffs, and thinking both from first principles and at fleet-wide scale.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the long-term product vision, setting strategic direction for increasing the trust in Simulation across GM and making it more cost effective.

  • Build novel frameworks and metrics to measure and improve the overall and component level validity and reliablity of the Simulation.

  • Drive innovations to increase the scalablity and cost effectiveness of the Sim infrastructure.

  • Unify Testing across Functions: Deliver a cohesive testing platform that aligns the needs of AV software developers and AV systems engineers—bridging the gap between development testing and release validation.

  • Communicate very technically complex information in an easy to understand narrative to stakeholders across GM.

  • Help drive a data-driven culture and establish and monitor key metrics to
measure the effectiveness of Simulation Testing products.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 5+ years  product management experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related fields

  • Solid understanding of the latest Simulation platforms, ML orchestration infrastructure and validation workflows.

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive projects forward, even without a clear path.

  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership

  • Proven ability to balance tradeoffs between user needs and
expectations, technical requirements and constraints and business objectives.

  • Demonstrated expertise in writing, with the ability to effectively balance and integrate vision, strategy, and technical details in a cohesive narrative.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • An MBA or a master's Degree in a technical or engineering discipline

  • Experience working on  Autonomous Vehicles, ML infrastructure, or large-scale simulation/testing.

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.

  • The salary range for this role is $159,400 to $245,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.

Benefits: GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs. Benefit options include medical, dental, vision, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Accounts, retirement savings plan, sickness and accident benefits, life insurance, paid vacation & holidays, tuition assistance programs, employee assistance program, GM vehicle discounts and more.

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
