This position is for an on-site Continuous Improvement Engineer Co-Op who will join the CORE team at the Collins Aerospace Melbourne, FL facility for the Spring / Summer 2025 session. Being part of our CORE team will allow you to identify and remove waste in our processes, optimize resources, and empower employees to make changes that improve the company's bottom line. This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, and will run January - July/August; it is only eligible for current students with a graduation date past December 2025.
What You Will Do:
Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run January-August (including the Spring semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).
- Co-facilitate events/activities to deliver tailored value to our customers and positively affect KPI.
- Identify drivers of cost and propose alternative solutions for cost reductions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and projects using the CORE methodology
- Support implementation of shop floor management strategy including but not limited to Visual Management, Cell Design, Material Flow
- Act as a culture champion and change agent
- On site support
What You Will Learn:
- Opportunity to learn CORE methodology and being certified as CORE Apprentice
- Being able to learn and support site wide manufacturing / test processes
- Being exposed to different levels of leadership when supporting CORE engagements / projects
Qualifications You Must Have:
- U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Demonstrates good communication / training skills
- Knowledge of principles and techniques commonly used in electronics / lean manufacturing
- Proficient knowledge using Microsoft Office products
