The Business Office Certified Coder reviews coding and documentation for all services provided by the practice through chart auditing as well as AR denials and provides ongoing education to providers regarding coding and documentation while exercising discretion and independent judgment.
Hours: Mon - Fri: 8am - 4:30pm EST
Location: fully remote, but candidates must reside in PA, NJ, DE, MD, NC, SC, GA, FL, or TX
Qualifications:

CPC certification through the AAPC required

Orthopaedic coding experience required

Must have two years of practical clinical and/or auditing experience

Knowledge of disease process, normal/abnormal findings, reasonable courses of treatment, quality assurance, and risk management issues required

Computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office and EMR system(s)

High School diploma or GED minimum education requirement
Essential Duties:

Audits physician and non-physician provider documentation for compliance with carrier and billing regulations.

Tracks and maintains records of all audits, results of conducted audits, and education.

Develops a pass/fail system and re-audit procedure based on audit results.

Participates and assists actively with external audits.

Creates trainings for physicians and staff based on current coding standards and regulations.

Reviews and corrects AR Denials for coding issues

Provides monthly statistics on audits conducted, trainings provided, and re-trainings for providers failing an audit

Requests and reviews confidential employee and physician information as per state and federal Excluded Party and Sanctioned Individual regulations.

Requests and reviews contractor and business associate information as per state and federal Excluded Party and Sanctioned Individual regulations.

Creates, tracks, maintains, and audits covering physician logs for all applicable offices.
