Kontoor Brands is looking for a Director, Learning & Development (L&D) to join our team. The Director will report to the Vice President of Talent within the Global Integrated Talent COE. The role will be accountable for developing and implementing a multi-year, L&D strategy that is aligned with the broader COE and HR function’s objectives. The individual will lead the end-to- end development of L&D offerings including curriculum design, program materials, facilitation plans, program costs, internal partnerships, vendor management, program evaluation, and marketing/communication of leadership and employee development programs. Building on the existing ‘Leadership Foundations’ 1 and 2 programs, the role will also require envisioning and building a new set of programs to execute across all regions. The Director will lead a cross-functional learning council and will collaborate with internal partners to ensure the effective use and management of the company’s Learning Management System (LMS). The leader must be able to lead a team and drive global objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine the L&D strategy and approach to program deployment and facilitation to ensure the most effective plans for learning experiences across the organization. Set priorities based on business needs, resource availability, and potential impact, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to deliver high-quality, timely learning programs.
- Manage and further build a portfolio of development offerings, including internally and externally designed programs, and curated content made available across all regions. Lead the end-to-end development of scalable new programs that significantly enhance engagement, knowledge retention, and performance outcomes.
- Cultivate and manage a network of external development vendors, ensuring access to high-quality learning resources that scale with the organization’s changing needs.
- Drive the L&D strategy and implementation of our learning content optimization approach. Lead the company’s cross-functional learning advisory council that is comprised of a cross-section of functional learning content owners.
- Work closely with region / function HRBPs to determine the best annual plan for localized leadership development. Partner with HRBPs and the Talent Management team to align program offerings with development actions identified through the talent review/succession planning, and other talent processes.
- Establish evaluation methods to assess the impact and effectiveness of training programs and utilize feedback and data to make evidence-based improvements that enhance learning impact.
- Facilitate program sessions or courses and/or build internal organizational capability, as needed
- Establish operational excellence across the global integrated talent COE team to improve the quality and efficiency of processes and decision making
Leadership
- Leads professional subject matter experts as well as internal and external instructional designers and facilitators to execute on global plans and design / deliver prioritized programs for each region and function
- Recruit, mentor, and retain a cohesive team of learning professionals, fostering an environment that promotes collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
- Facilitate continuous professional development offering team members access to training in best practices, emerging tools, and other development opportunities to build L&D capability inside our organization.
Experience/Education
- BA/BS in instructional design, human resources, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD), Certified Learning and Development Professional (CLDP) or Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) a plus.
- Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience designing and delivering learning and development solutions for leadership (first-time leaders through executive levels) and employees at all levels preferably in a global business environment; Expertise with adult learning theory and instructional design certification a plus.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience directly managing a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) is required.
