We are currently recruiting for a Director, Senior Credit Officer Corporate and Structured / Leverage Finance for our Credit Department in Amsterdam.

Main purpose of the role
Develop a deep understanding of the risks in MBE’s Corporate and Structured / Leveraged Finance portfolios, add value to support the delivery of profitable growth within MBE’s risk appetite and contribute to an effective control environment. This, in turn, ensures the integrity of the overall credit portfolio and provides support to MBE’s regulatory requirements.
Function positioning
The role will report to MBE’s Head of Credit, who reports directly to the Chief Risk Officer of MBE.
The role includes the following:
- Objectively assess Corporate and Structured / Leveraged / Project Finance credit proposals, identifying risk issues to reach a reasoned conclusion leading to recommendations for Senior Management approval
- Senior credit counterpart to the 1st Line of Defense (“1LoD”) sector/vertical heads, relationship managers and applicable product offices, including divisional heads/General Managers where necessary
- Provide timely and succinct advice or briefings (in verbal or written form) to senior management
- Proactive solutions driven engagement with front line on deal specific and/or strategic developments through expert guidance, direction, feedback and identification of red flags or breaches of internal guidelines and policies
- Exercise credit approval authority by balancing risk with opportunity. To challenge credit recommendations and proposed deals to ensure appropriate balance between return and use of capital funds
- Support continuous development of MBE’s credit risk framework, risk appetite, portfolio monitoring and early warning frameworks in line with shareholder, client and regulatory expectations
- Keep up to date on relevant markets and sectors, and monitor the portfolio to anticipate problems. Take necessary early pro-active steps to minimize potential losses
- Active contribution in discussions with the business relating to any relevant developments and potential client needs on a more strategic level relating to relevant products
- Active participation in discussion forums and on project teams, providing input from a credit perspective, as necessary.
In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:
Skills and Experience:
Essential
- Bachelor or Master Degree.
- Sufficient experience working in financial institutions carrying out credit work for Corporate and Structured / Leveraged / Project Finance.
- Sufficient work experience in the financial services industry and sound understanding of regulatory requirements related to the credit sanctioning and monitoring process
- Extensive knowledge of Corporate and Structured / Leveraged / Proje
