About the role

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactive & Reactive Maintenance of equipment and instrument calibration which includes documentation of work orders, maintaining PM records, and inventory checkouts.
  • Install, repair and replace parts.
  • Modify machines.
  • Install new equipment.
  • Assist in the maintenance of spare parts inventory and order spare parts according to procedures.
  • Ensure that the necessary paperwork such as daily work time sheets is complete and accurate.
  • Must be available to work over shutdown period, and overtime hours to accommodate scheduled maintenance of equipment.
  • To report for duty with reasonable time limit if there is a call back.
  • To be able to work under minimum direction and also be able to use his own initiative.
  • To be able to co-ordinate his efforts with other trades and be able to carry out some basic function of these trades.
  • Be able to read and understand mechanical drawings and blue prints.
  • Be familiar with the following trades; carpentry, painting, machining, welding, pipe fitting, sheet metal work, instrumentation.
  • Must be familiar with the NEC and local electrical codes and keep up to date with revisions.
  • The technician must be able to read and understand electrical diagrams and blue print, and posses a thorough knowledge of relay logic and ladder diagrams
  • Have a basic understanding of programmable controllers, operator interfaces, and their function in integrated systems.
  • Trouble shooting AC/DC motors and speed controls and capable of performing repairs as required. Taking measurements on live equipment and rotating components.
  • Have a concept of supervisory microprocessor control interface and an understanding of PID control as it applies to the process.
  • Have the ability to recognize control strategies of new and existing processes and develop the analytical ability to troubleshoot and correct problems in complex running process.
  • Be proficient in the use of MP2(computerized maintenance management system) for work order control, inventory, equipment history, and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain exemplary housekeeping standards. Always leave work area cleaner than when found.
  • Expected to abide by all company policies and to execute their daily activities with professionalism and good moral character.
  • Be willing to attend company paid training programs as prescribed by the Maintenance Manager and/or Plant Engineer.
  • Will work with and receive work instructions from the Maintenance Manager and/or the Plant Engineer.
  • Will work to resolve conflicts and questions thru the Maintenance Engineer and/or the Plant Engineer when available.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of mechanical measuring and precision instruments including dial gauge, micrometers, calipers, etc.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Must have a basic understanding of converting machinery.
  • Must have the ability to use multimeters, amp clamps, and megohmmeters to trouble shoot electrical, 24vDC – 480vAC circuits.
  • Must have the ability to trouble shoot mechanical and process problems.
  • Must have the ability to perform rigging, using straps, slings, and hoists

Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of mechanics measuring and precision instruments including dial gauge, micrometers, calipers, etc. Must be thoroughly familiar with hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Must have a basic understanding of automated production machinery and have the ability to trouble shoot electrical, mechanical and process problems. Must have working knowledge of electrical and electronic motors, components, and controls. RP order entry and inventory control preferred.

Experience & Education

    • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required. A certification/diploma from an accredited technical institution in Industrial Maintenance, or Industrial Electronic Technology is acceptable. Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing (electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, etc.) systems is required. .
