Where You Will Work
Located in southeastern Arizona, close to more than 4 million acres of national forest, employees and their families can connect with the great outdoors while fishing, rafting, hiking and more. Description
Under minimal supervision, performs routine and specialized SX/EW and Leach testing functions. Duties include but are not limited to data collection, sample collection, preparation and data reporting; mine site support and assist in the development and optimization of site processes. May include team lead responsibilities.- Serve as Lead for various audits, inspections and site support projects, which may include traveling to mine sites
- May build bench scale experiments/monitor sample progression under direction of Project Manager or Supervisor or set up test plant or operational flow for sample preparation and analysis
- Prepare samples for analysis and run tests using appropriate established techniques and methods
- Create new and/or modify existing SOP’s
- Set-up and maintain laboratory/field instrumentation and equipment; diagnose problems, calibrate and retest as appropriate; ensure lab has appropriate supplies for operation
- Train and mentor other employees in all areas of SX/EW and Leach functions
- Participate in project planning and execution of project(s)
- Provide input and recommendations to Project Managers regarding testing
- Operate mobile equipment, including but not limited to: forklifts, overhead crane, loaders, skid steers
- Enter data into spreadsheets/databases and report results to sites
- Compile, assign, track, ship and receive materials as required
- May serve as fill-in Supervisor
- Follow and understand MSHA/OSHA rules and regulations, Environmental rules and regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work area instructions
- Participate in safety and environmental activities
- Use plant and laboratory equipment correctly at all times
- Perform housekeeping and other duties as required
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Five (5) years of direct lab experience, OR
- Related Associate's degree, which includes four (4) years of related lab experience
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Expert knowledge of lab equipment, lab protocols and techniques appropriate to assigned areas
- Demonstrated ability to train others in particular area of lab/tasks
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions and to lead others with regard to proper safety application in all assignments
- Experience with mathematic and/or numbers based tasks
- Experience with chemical sample preparation and/or analysis
- Ability to follow detailed, technical instructions
- Experience with tedious or repetitive motions or tasks
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability and willingness to travel to mine sites with occasional overnight stay
- Experience working in an ISO 9001/EMS 14001/OHSAS 18001 environment
Preferred Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Proficiency using MS Excel to develop and maintain spreadsheets, reports and other documentation
- Three (3) years SXEW operational experience
- Two (2) years CLP plant operational experience
- Three (3) years Analytical lab operational experience
- Three (3) years Team/Crew lead/mentor for production operation experience
- Mobile equipment experience, to include overhead crane
Criteria/Conditions
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
- A valid driver's license is required
