About the role

Job Summary

  • The Office Assistant is responsible for scheduling patient appointments for Surgical Clinic. 
  • Also responsible for answering the telephones, greeting patients, obtaining insurance pre-certifications, scanning and obtaining medical records, scheduling appointments/referrals with specialists, and entering patient charges with billing information.
  • Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service and Trust).
  • Will travel between Central Kentucky Surgeons and Commonwealth Cancer Center with providers as needed.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Attention to detail. Ability to research and analyze information, develop conclusions, recommendations, and reports. Ability to use keyboard and general office equipment including telephone, fax, and scanners. Ability to use various information technology systems, including Office Practicum, Internet, Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent customer service and service recovery skills. Flexibility to respond to changing priorities and interruptions.

 

Contacts with Others

Contact with office and hospital Associates, patients, and visitors.

 

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. College or technical school degree in the secretarial field preferred.

 

Experience: Two (2) years of previous medical office experience required.

 

EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Attention to detail. Ability to research and analyze information, develop conclusions, recommendations, and reports. Ability to use keyboard and general office equipment including telephone, fax, and scanners. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (orally and written). Excellent customer service and service recovery skills. Flexibility to respond to changing priorities and interruptions.
