Senior Associate General Counsel

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Associate General Counsel is responsible for providing broad-based legal, regulatory and compliance support to our business partners. This is an Attorney position supporting the business teams on a variety of legal matters including reinsurance treaties, contracts, corporate arrangements and agreements with third party vendors, non-disclosure agreement, information technology, security and data privacy, real estate, insurance regulatory matters, and corporate governance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide high quality legal services on a timely and cost-efficient basis
- Support negotiation, drafting, and review of reinsurance and related agreements, as well as contracts and vendor agreements
- Actively participate as the legal representative on core project teams
- Assist with corporate governance and operational matters related to corporate transactions and insurance regulatory matters
- Advise on legal and regulatory requirements, corporate policies and procedures, best practices, and strategies for managing risk
- Analyze business plans and initiatives to identify legal risks, and advise clients on findings and mitigation strategies, including completing legal research related to plans and initiatives
- Prepare memoranda, legal agreements, regulatory filings, and other documents
- Work cross functionally with other attorneys to provide holistic legal advice
- Supports team by maintaining Colleagues’ workloads in their absence
- Performs other activities, duties and assignments as needed or requested
Minimum Qualifications:
- Active bar membership in good standing in at least one jurisdiction
- 10-15 years of experience
- Independent and curious
- Team player
- Self-starter
- Strong attention to detail
- Inquisitive with an ability to navigate complicated and nuanced issues
- Willingness to learn and expand legal knowledge in unanticipated areas
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
