Job Overview

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade- Costume Operation is looking for a Costume Production Assistant

This position reports to: Costume shop Managers, Costume Director

Note* May possibly begin part time but will become full time as work increases nearer to parade day.

Essential Functions

• Supervise or assist in preparing a large quantity of stock costumes for efficient distribution and collection.
• Supervise or assist in preparing batch shipments of UPS packages. No experience necessary.

· Assist Costume shop Managers and Costume Director in whatever capacity may be needed (i.e. moving boxes, rolling racks or trunks in the warehouse, answering phones, running errands, office administration, laundering of costume pieces as needed, shop clean up and organization, small sewing/repairs/craft projects, etc.)

· Assist with load in/load out, set up and strike for all events including laundry and costume delivery.

· Supervise or Assist with dressing areas on event dates.

· Must be available for the entire season, some weekends and overtime as scheduled as well as on Thanksgiving Day.

· Must be prompt arriving to work, including off site locations.

· Must present a casual corporate appearance.

· Must possess the ability to adjust easily to all situations and work well with others.

Competencies

· Must be EXTREMELY organized and possess extraordinary interpersonal skills.

· Must be able to work independently as well as with a team.

· Must have basic math computation and writing skills.

· Must have basic computer skills including WORD, EXCEL,PPT.

· Basic sewing/garment repair skills and familiarity with basic fabric cleaning/maintenance processes preferred.

· Must be able to stand for 90 minutes or more, multiple times per day.

· Must be able to lift, push or pull 40 lbs. or more, multiple times per day.

· Stage management/Theatre/fashion show/event production and/or dresser skills are preferred.

· Reliable personal or public transportation to Moonachie NJ location is necessary.
