Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Aerodynamics Engineer - Computational Fluid Dynamics (Associate, Mid-Level, or Senior) to join our Flight Sciences Technology Integration (FSTI) team based in Everett, WA.

As an Aerodynamics Engineer specializing in Computational Fluid Dynamics, you will build the foundational tools and methods that support engineering design and analysis. The Flight Sciences Technology Integration (FSTI) Computational Methods team develops and applies advanced aerodynamic analysis and design tools and processes to a wide variety of flight platforms, supporting programs across the enterprise during all phases of the product life cycle.

In this role, you will partner with our Engineering and Research & Technology teams to develop innovative technologies for aerodynamic simulations and optimization. You will also collaborate with other Flight technology groups to create an ecosystem of geometric modeling and simulation capabilities. Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate, Experienced and Senior Level Aerodynamics Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops CFD solvers to provide high fidelity solutions for aerodynamic analysis and shape optimization.

  • Strong background in numerical methods and algorithms appropriate for CFD.

  • Experience in CFD solver development for aircraft applications.

  • Experience with C/C++, FORTRAN, & Python programming languages.

  • Familiarity with modern software development and DevOps practices.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 2 or more years of experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) development.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Background in compressible & turbulent flows.

  • Background with Finite Element Methods for CFD.

  • Background in RANS and URANS methods.

  • Background in integral boundary layer methods and/or wall models.

  • Background in adjoint-based optimization techniques.

  • Background in scale resolving methods (hybrid RANS/LES & Wall Modelled LES).

  • Experience in CFD development for GPUs.

  • Experience with GPU programming frameworks such as CUDA, OpenACC, and HIP.

  • Familiarity with modern software development DevOps practices.

  • Able to perform CFD solver development, verification, and validation.

  • Background in numerical methods suitable to CFD.

  • Experience in scientific programming and code development in C, C++, and FORTRAN.

  • Capable of analyzing aerodynamic flow-fields and extracting engineering data.
