About the role

The Digital Pathology Unit within the Clinical Laboratory Support Sections is seeking a highly motivated, high-performing, experienced Senior Software Engineer professional to join the team. Develops and deploys data pipelines, integrations and transformations to support analytics and machine learning applications and solutions as part of an assigned product team using various open-source programming languages and vended software to meet the desired design functionality for products and programs. The position requires maintaining an understanding of the organization's current solutions, coding languages, tools, and regularly requires the application of independent judgment. May provide consultative services to departments/divisions and leadership committees. Demonstrated experience in designing, building, and installing data systems and how they are applied to enterprise technology frameworks is required.  Candidate will partner with Computational Pathology teams and vendors on enhancing interoperabilility between lines of business and a vast repository of Digital Pathology data through AI and other automations  

To set you up for success in this role from day one, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience with Healthcare standards (FHIR, DICOM, HL7, HIPPA
  • 3+ years of demonstrable DevOps experience
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux system administration
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Azure DevOps, GitHub or GitLab
  • Experience with CI/CD processes
  • Actively participates in all Agile meetings
  • Experience with a broad range of technologies that span the stack
  • Three (3) years of enterprise-level software development experience in a private, public, government, or military environment
  • Experience building and deploying highly scalable systems, algorithms, and tools on platforms to support machine learning and deep learning solutions.

Participation in a 24/7 on-call support rotation may be required. 

This is a full time remote position.  Incumbent must live within the United States.  Mayo Clinic will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position including F1 OPT STEM.

Required qualifications for this position include: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience as noted below; OR an Associate’s degree in Computer/Science/Engineering or related field with 7 years of experience. 

Have in-depth knowledge of software engineering with experience coding applications or services in a high-level language (C, C++, Golang, Java, C# etc.) and a basic knowledge of related fields.
Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills. Possesses strong technical aptitude for designing and implementing software solutions. Experience with modern application development frameworks
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. Deep hands-on technical expertise, excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with Agile software development techniques.
• Preferred qualifications for this position include:
• Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
• Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud-based services.
• Experience writing software for the cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Experience in databases, analytics, big data systems or business intelligence products.
• Experience building high-performance, highly available and scalable distributed systems.
• Experience developing software for healthcare related industries.
