What You’ll Do:

As a Clinician, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the emotional and psychological well-being of children who have experienced significant hardship. You’ll provide assessments, therapy, and case coordination in a culturally responsive and bilingual environment.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 🎓 Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
  • 🧠 Licensed to practice in the state of Michigan (LLMSW, LMSW, LLPC, LPC, etc.)
  • 🚗 Valid, unrestricted driver’s license and reliable personal transportation
  • 📄 Proof of current auto insurance
  • 🌍 Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred
  • ❤️ Passion for working with children and families from diverse backgrounds

Samaritas provides services to youth who have traveled to the US for safety apart from their family or guardians. These youth are given status in the United States as Unaccompanied Children (UC). The children you will be serving will come from diverse and oftentimes traumatic backgrounds, and are placed in both foster home and group home settings where Samaritas provides case management, therapy, and other supportive services. The program also helps these youth adjust to the customs and culture of the United States while pursuing their goals of education, English-language learning, and independence. As the Unaccompanied Children (UC) Long Term Foster Care Clinician, you will be responsible for providing trauma-informed treatment planning and delivery to youth. The Clinician completes assessments of youth and offer consultation to Case Managers on cases. In addition to conducting individual therapy sessions, the Clinician role will also be required to facilitate group counseling sessions to program youth. This position is expected to function effectively with moderate supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Provide direct therapeutic services to clients and program participants as needed, including group work and family therapy
  • Administer required behavioral and mental health assessments for youth
  • Coordinate services for each youth in conjunction with Case Manager
  • Participate in staff meetings and offer clinical feedback regarding client treatment needs
  • Attend, facilitate, and assist with providing on-going education and support services to foster parents
  • Provide record keeping and documentation for all clinical activities in accordance with program and contractor policy
  • Provide crisis intervention and guidance to youth and foster families regarding clinical components of crisis intervention and long-term treatment strategies
  • Provide community -based counseling to youth
  • Comply with laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality
  • Ability to work flexible hours and work independently within the field

    Job Qualifications

     

    Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

     

    • Master’s degree in Social Work with clinical experience; OR  Master’s degree in psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science in which direct clinical experience is a program requirement
