Store Manager - Greenwich

Star Lumber & Supply Co., Inc. delivers confidence through our products and our people. We are seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead operations at our Greenwich location.

The Store Manager is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overall store performance, team development, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. This role provides full accountability for store operations while developing employees, driving sales, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring financial integrity. The Store Manager plays a key role in shaping a positive culture and driving long-term success.

Overall Store Leadership and Operations

• Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of all store operations.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Serve as the primary leader for the store, setting expectations and driving performance.

Daily Operations

• Manage store opening and closing procedures.
• Oversee daily cash drawer financials and vault management.
• Supervise sales counter and lumber drive personnel and operations.
• Ensure accurate receiving of inventory and execution of store restocking processes.
• Conduct and document daily safety inspections of property and equipment.

People Management

• Hire, train, coach, and develop store employees.
• Create, manage, and approve employee schedules to meet business needs.
• Provide ongoing performance feedback and conduct performance evaluations.
• Foster teamwork, accountability, and a customer-focused culture.

Inventory & Financial Accountability

• Oversee quarterly inventory cycle counting and ensure accuracy.
• Monitor inventory levels, shrink, and operational controls.
• Maintain accurate records and reports related to store performance.

Customer & Sales Leadership

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Resolve customer concerns and ensure high levels of service.
• Support sales growth through coaching, product knowledge, and operational efficiency.

Management Coverage

• Ensure continuity of operations during absences and manage delegation of duties to Assistant Managers and supervisors.

Requirements

The Ideal Candidate Is

• 2+ years of management or supervisory experience (retail, lumber, building materials, or related industry preferred).
• Experience working with orders in BisTrack.
• Strong leader who enjoys developing and motivating a diverse team.
• Outgoing, customer-focused, and comfortable building relationships.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in time management.
• Thrives in a fast-paced sales and operational environment.
• Takes pride in leading teams to achieve shared goals.
• Must be 18 years old with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Availability to work various shifts during store hours as needed.
