Job Description
The Analytical Data Operations (ADO) team is responsible for managing the lifeblood of our position within the US P&C Insurance industry, our data. Ensuring our product teams have the data they need, when they need it, and with the trust in our systems and processes to ensure they have their hands on the pulse of the industry. We are a hybrid team of data analysts, data engineers, BI developers, and actuarial-engineers that are responsible for the design and implementation of our core data-systems including data ingestion, data integration, data transformation, data analysis, and BI development.
The ADO team is looking to hire a BI Manager, ideally having a good combination of an analytical/innovative mindset, technical aptitude, business accumen, communication skills, and a passion for mentoring. For internal candidates, this position is open to grade level 17.
This is a hybrid role that will combine insurance knowledge, data analysis, and communication skills and will be expected to manage a team supporting multiple work-streams and an array of internal customers. We are looking for a team lead that can support the development of our junior staff in modern data operations including database architecture, data pipelines, data analysis, effective use of data visualization in organizing workflows, and other data related best-practices.
As a BI Manager, you will...
Collaborate with product owners and other business stakeholders to deliver and maintain robust portfolios of data analytics solutions that assist the organization in achieving its objectives and improving performance
Understand the business needs for reporting and analytics. Advise business stakeholders and make recommendations for ways to maximize the use of data and analytics
Champion adoption of BI systems/tools/processes where appropriate
Oversee the generation and communication of standard report updates, and ensure your team maintains robust documentation to support future inquiries
Lead a high-performing development and implementation team by recruiting, training, coaching and developing effective staff
Monitor and improve BI operations, automating processes where possible and identifying and correcting issues proactively
Drive development and enforcement of business intelligence best practices, including maintenance of centralized business term definitions and related metadata
Maintain relevant metrics to provide transparency on reporting solutions usage and team performance
Hands-on development of reports and dashboards to business specifications

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a STEM major or with STEM coursework learned in associated majors (Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics)
A minimum of five years P&C insurance data analysis experience
Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) are required, with a desire to improve presentation and persuasion skills
A passion for using data and technology to understand the real world and drive change with a focus on the importance of data quality
Excellent SQL, Excel/BI skills with a focus on data analysis
Experience supervising junior team members and a strong record of building great stakeholder relationships
A self-starter with a commitment to innovation and pro-active problem solving
A sincere interest in transforming the insurance industry through data and analytics to improve people’s lives
Excellent conceptual and analytical reasoning competencies.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. A great team player who embraces collaborations also work well individually while supporting multiple projects in parallel
