About the opportunity

The University of Sydney is seeking to appoint a Chief Central Operations Services (CCOS) executive to lead this critical team that services the whole University across its Central Operations Services (COS) and Professional Services (PSU).  These fully integrated and enterprise-wide teams service the core infrastructure of the university, including operations, commercial contracts and risk management, administration, technologies, assets, and facilities and so this role is very broad reaching and of the upmost importance in ensuring the University continues to be one of most pre-eminent University’s in the world.

Responsible for the strategic asset management of the University’s infrastructure assets, valued at nearly $5bn and over 1,000 staff, including contractors, the scale of this role, it’s reach, and accountabilities are extensive.  The CCOS is responsible for all decisions that relate to strategic planning, organisational design and performance, financial performance, stakeholder management, technology strategy and deployment, health and safety, risk management and capital planning.

As an experienced and impactful executive leader, the appointee will be experienced in managing diverse inter-disciplinary facilities and shared service functions in a highly complex and diverse matrix structured organisation.  The person will have established themselves as a trusted advisor within their current organisation and will have proven commercial and contract management experience, including the ability to manage, collaborate, influence, and negotiate with external service providers, strategic partnerships and service relationships.  Additionally, the appointee will have deep experience in governance, safety and compliance management.  They will be an authentic, inspirational leader, able to lead and effectively converse with and influence a large and diverse team.

Term and remuneration

The term of the appointment is 5-year fixed term. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
