At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Job Description:
Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Phlebotomist in the Clinical Chemistry Core Laboratory.
Major Responsibilities
Provide phlebotomy services for Pennington Biomedical clinical trials, for basic researchers at the center, for the US Army Institute of Environmental Medicine (USARIEM), and for other contracting clients.
Accurately follows strict, technical instruction for each research study as described in the study protocol. Any deviations are reported to the appropriate authority.
Accurately and completely documents all data collection and activities according to Standards of Procedure (SOP) and Methods of Procedure (MOP) guidelines.
Maintains skills and accuracy in data collection and reporting by utilizing institutionally-accepted computer programs.
Administers oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, sublingual, rectal, topical, intravenous, and intranasal medications in accordance with medication administration guidelines and specialized study protocols.
Required Qualifications
Phlebotomists must be licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
