Principal Electrical Engineer
FuelCell EnergyAbout the role
FuelCell Energy is a global leader in decarbonizing power and producing hydrogen through our proprietary fuel cell technology. Our mission is to enable a world powered by clean energy. As an innovator and manufacturer of fuel cell clean power platforms, FuelCell Energy has the only technology in the world capable of capturing carbon from an external source and producing power at the same time. In addition, we offer the only technology in the world capable of producing hydrogen, power and water simultaneously.
The pay for this position ranges from $133,000 - $154,000.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated, forward-thinking electrical engineer to join the Advanced Technology group where you will be responsible for designing, evaluating and supporting advanced fuel cell-based systems for power generation, carbon capture, hydrogen production and energy storage. This position requires flexibility to work on multiple projects, covering a range of systems and technologies, in various stages of the design or validation process.
Responsibilities:
- Leads design of engineering projects related to product improvement/development
- Designs, evaluates and supports equipment for renewable power generation and conversion including inverters/rectifiers.
- Electrical Systems Design: Single Line & Three Line Drawings, Wiring & Interconnect Drawings, Electrical Layouts & Details, Power Distribution Drawings, Panel Layout & Design Drawings, Arc Flash Safety and Calculations
- Power Inverter and DC to DC conversion system electrical system design
- Prepare electrical engineering designs for fabrication including AC distribution, DC distribution, and small system controller power systems.
- National Electrical Code and Safety Standards, UL 1741, IEEE 1547, and NFPA 70 & 79
- Prepares electrical engineering calculations in support of electrical system designs including, electrical equipment sizing, feeder sizing and equipment selection
- Coordinates with disciplines in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensuring those other disciplines’ inputs are incorporated
- Prepares documentation for engineering changes and product design verifications.
- Evaluates components and processes used in distributed generation systems.
- Writes procedures, specifications, and preventative maintenance plans.
- Working closely with key electrical equipment suppliers to select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications.
- Perform Electrical System Modeling and simulation. Perform fault current analysis and arc flash hazard of system designs, including inrush mitigation, circuit protection scenarios (fuse and breaker selection, coordination), and supplemental grid solutions.
- Configures / programs electrical devices such as variable frequency drives.
- Provides engineering support to service personnel.
- Ensure our designs meet applicable codes, current regulations and standards
- Other projects as assigned.
