Since launching our flagship Generative AI product, we have blown past our revenue targets quarter over quarter. We've also just announced our $122M USD Series D funding, and are looking for a SALT Senior Associate/Manager (Research) to help scale our tax expertise and shape the next generation of AI-powered tax research tool.

A Note on Location

This is a remote-first position, open to candidates legally eligible to work in the United States. For in-person collaboration, you’ll have the opportunity to travel to our Toronto office twice a year to connect with the broader team.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Tax Lawyer or Tax Accountant with 4-7 years of experience in SALT (state and local tax) to join our product team as a SALT Senior Associate/Manager (Research). Our ideal candidate is well-versed in SALT and familiar with its application in multiple states. As a SALT Senior Associate/Manager (Research), you will use your tax expertise to play a central role in continuing to develop Blue J, our large language model-enabled tax research tool. As a key member of our growing team of tax researchers, you’ll have the unique opportunity to participate in building the next generation of world-class tax research tools.
In this role, you will gain invaluable experience and learn from some of the best in the field of AI and tax. While we’re an AI company, experience in AI is not required. We’re looking for someone who loves tax and is passionate about how technology can make tax law more transparent and accessible. Your SALT expertise will be instrumental in helping our team as we move this mission forward and take Blue J to new heights.

What You’ll Be Doing

Tax Research

You will use your excellent tax research skills and knowledge to quickly locate relevant primary and secondary sources using standard tax research skills.
Understand and summarize tax law questions in multiple states and areas of tax.
Evaluate sources for accuracy and currency.
Efficiently analyze source documents to support your analysis.
Adapt quickly to researching different areas of tax law.
Assess the quality and accuracy of AI-generated tax analysis.
While you will be primarily responsible for SALT research and review, you may also be expected to contribute to our Canadian, UK, and US federal platforms as part of the legal research team.

Teamwork

You will use your tax knowledge to work with tax lawyers and accountants, and alongside a team of computer developers and data scientists to build and improve our AI tools.
You will build strong relationships with the entire tax research team and the data science and technology team, working collaboratively and learning from each other.

Experience in programming and data science is not necessary – just an open mind and an eagerness to collaborate.
