Job Summary
Provide safe, dependable and courteous patient transportation services for all admissions, discharges, transfers and morgues for the Grady Health System. Patient transporting services will include emergency room, patient care areas/units, ancillary departments, and clinics. Transport equipment and all documents relating to patient care/transport. Must maintain and be responsible for all departmental equipment (i.e. pagers, radios, wheelchairs, stretchers, Trans carts, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED required
- Previous training accepted, but not required and will be provided in patient handling, movement and body lifting techniques, Joint Commission requirements, OSHA regulations, Universal Precautions, CPR, and Death and Dying
- Must be well instructed on the maintenance and cleaning of transport equipment
- Must maintain close communication with Guest Services Coordinator/dispatcher
- Must be physically capable of constant walking and lifting of heavy patients and/or equipment
- Must have the ability to meet pickup and delivery schedules of all transport assignments
- Must be courteous and professional at all times with patients, visitors, hospital personnel and volunteer staff
- Is courteous and professional at all times. Properly use AIDET on a daily basis.
- Transports patients for all admissions, discharges, transfers, and morgues, which will include transports to and from the hospital's emergency room, patient care areas/units, ancillary departments, and clinics.
- Adheres to all transporter basic requirements as it relates to performance/productivity and department transport policy/procedure.
- Actively and effectively uses the transport tracking system.
- Transports equipment and documents related to patient care/transport.
- Returns, stores, maintains and daily/periodically cleans all transporting equipment including pagers, radios, etc.
- Complies with all hospital/departmental policies and procedures to include the departmental uniform dress code requirement.
- Complies with all Joint Commission compliance standards (i.e. Trip Slips, Hand Hygiene, two Patient Identifiers, etc.).
- Satisfactorily completes all required training, in-services, and certifications (CPR).
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
