Your role
Digital Realty looking for an experienced Director, Space & Power to lead the acceleration of advanced power and cooling solutions across our global portfolio of data centers. The Director, Space & Power will blend technical and business expertise to champion cross functional efforts to develop cutting edge data center colocation solutions. The role requires a customer focus, a desire for constant improvement, a predisposition to action and the willingness to blaze a path forward.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on, forward-thinker responsible for turning strategic direction into tactical plans with a history of accomplishing stated objectives. S/he will be expected to conceive, prioritize, develop and communicate solutions based on their technical knowledge, extensive experience, understanding of market trends, customer needs and the competitive landscape overall. The candidate must be able to operate successfully in a highly technical environment. The Director Product Manager must be organized, adept at planning and managing multiple activities concurrently, and possess exceptional collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills.
What you’ll do
- Work with regional leaders to understand customer needs, data center capabilities, and operational abilities to craft and manage a globally harmonized product offering.
- Define, refine, and maintain global product standards for data center colocation services (space, power, cooling etc.).
- Perform as a subject matter expert on advanced elements of colocation space, power and cooling services for inquiries from Sales, Sales Engineering, Commercial Management, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Legal, and others.
- Work with Product, Asset, Finance, Operations, Design and Engineering team members to support the development and on-going management of other products and services.
- Manage and/or represent Product Management in various forums and initiatives.
- Assessing existing colocation data center infrastructure management and services offerings including feature sets, product definitions, SLA, etc. and then leading cross functional teams to develop and/or harmonize said offerings (people, processes, and systems).
- Developing global product sets to capture greater market share, drive revenue and margin uplift and/or satisfy other company objectives.
- Managing relationships and executing key initiatives leveraging your own technical aptitude, marketing experience, and project management skills.
- Analyzing data to determine, measure, and communicate program effectiveness while adapting as needed to ensure success.
- Establishing and/or enforcing selling and solution policies within a culture of sales enablement and customer first balanced against a framework of business objectives and risk management.
- Becoming an expert in and owning the Quote to Report (QTR) for all aspects of colocation services and other related service offerings.
- Supporting internal teams’ understanding of our product offering, benefits, and features.
- Providing: training, deal support, exception review, document management/updates, and pricing input.
What you’ll need
- Over a decade of product management experience in data center or technology environment, with a deep understanding of evolving technologies and market trends.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; an MBA or advanced degree in Product Management is a plus.
- Strong understanding of data center figures and metrics including but not limited to utilization per square foot or meter, watts and kilowatts, and Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).
- Strong bias to data and analytical skills but comfort acting in the absence of such.
- Direct experience with data center power and cooling distribution infrastructure.
- Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle, including product strategy, roadmap development, and feature definition.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex data, translate customer needs into product features, and make data-driven decisions to enhance product performance.
- Expertise in conducting competitive analysis, market research, and user testing to inform product positioning and go-to-market strategies.
- Proficiency in product performance management, with skills in setting, monitoring, and analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement and achieve business objectives.
