About the role

Description

In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Milton, the Department of Children and Families deployed staff to impacted counties to assist individuals within 48 hours of landfall.  This help has been extended and New Horizons of the Treasure Coast together with DCF will continue to provide help to the following counties:


· Martin

· Okeechobee

· St. Lucie 


Within the positions needed for this 8-month temporary assignment, a Community Liaison & Resources Coordinator is needed.


Duties:

  1. Facilitates Crisis Counselors access and relationships with local communities and works with community organizations
  2. May serve as cultural broker and liaison between crisis counselors and cultural groups
  3. Provides intensive resources linkages for survivors struggling to access disaster relief assistance.
  4. Networks with community resources to identify referral mechanisms 
  5. Provides training to crisis counselors and other service providers regarding referral resources and mechanisms. 

Requirements

Education: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social work, community development, public relations, or a related discipline is preferred but not always required. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
