Job Summary


The Field Service Engineer (FSE) is responsible for customer site service of all Diagnostic Systems products within assigned territory; providing preventative maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and training on BD instruments and systems as well as their application to customer’s laboratory operations.
The FSE must ensure that customer expectations are met or exceeded through accurate completion of service requests at each customer site. This position requires high level interpersonal skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks. This role will be based in and around the Denver CO metro area and outward.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely response to customer calls in accordance with contractual agreements.

  • Manage time effectively by planning and organizing daily work assignments and making appropriate decisions regarding priorities for service visits.

  • Demonstrates effective use of BDI technologies such as laptops, smartphones, etc., to increase efficiency and productivity.

  • Communicate professionally both verbally and written with customers and colleagues.

  • Provide accurate information regarding new products, features, applications, accessories, and related services.

  • Maintain regular and accurate documentation/records of service activities including parts used, repairs made, customer complaints, unresolved issues, lessons learned, expenses, billing records, and other pertinent data as required by departmental policies.

  • Develop relationships with distributors and sales representatives to facilitate more efficient servicing of customers.

  • Resolve problems with instruments and equipment, either by repairing them or advising customers when they should be replaced.

  • Assess customer needs, discover opportunities for new business, and make recommendations to management accordingly.

  • Assist in training new employees as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or equivalent experience

  • 2-5 years of field service experience working on and maintaining equipment for customers.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to read, understand and put into practice documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine Technical Service Reports and correspondence.

  • Travel requirements vary but may include weekly travel within your region and occasionally outside of it. 90% local and in state

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for Solving instrumentation issues.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in order to properly collaborate with various customers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Biomedical Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or Life Science

  • Military experience

Primary Work Location and Additional Considerations:

  • We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the USA, however Visa Sponsorship is currently not available.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license with at least 3 years of driving history and meet BD's auto safety standards.

  • Flexibility to travel up to 90% of time within assigned geographic area (Denver, CO), based upon business needs.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours throughout the work week while traveling to various US Customer locations, within your assigned Territory.
