Position Summary
We are seeking an Assistant Research Professor to support and expand the statistical programs within the Surgical Outcomes and Quality Improvement Center (SOQIC, www.soqic.org) in the Department of Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine. This individual will partner with SOQIC investigators to provide complex statistical leadership on projects and grants related to surgical quality and safety improvement, health services research, health policy, and outcomes. There will also be opportunities for this individual to pursue their own line of independent research. The individual in this role will oversee and direct master’s degree level analysts and data coordinators as they provide complex quantitative analytic support for research carried out by clinical faculty in the Department of Surgery. Additional training in models, methods, and grant writing is possible, along with support to present research at national and international meetings.
SOQIC is a collaborative health services, outcomes, health policy, and quality and safety improvement research enterprise of more than 35 faculty, fellows, and staff. Our research spans all surgical specialties and areas of medicine, with a particular focus on general surgery, surgical oncology and multidisciplinary oncology care, trauma/critical care, and vascular surgery. This position is located in Indianapolis on the IU School of Medicine campus and offers hybrid flexibility.
Department-Specific Responsibilities:
·Consult with SOQIC investigators and Department of Surgery faculty on complex study designs and appropriate statistical methods, apply advanced analytic methods, interpret and summarize data.

·Provide complex scientific and technical leadership regarding data collection, cleaning, management, and analysis; technical writing; and reporting.
·Mentor junior analysts as they support the clinical faculty’s analytic needs in their research and mentor research fellows as they pursue their own projects under the direction of their SOQIC mentors.
·Develop strategic plans for the development and expansion of the CORES program.
·Manage and oversee a team of data analysts as they support clinical faculty in their research.
·Co-author scientific papers for presentation and publication.
