The Role

We’re looking for a Staff Engineer with extensive software engineering experience to join our Engines & Data team.  The Engines & Data team is responsible for the design, development, testing and maintenance of our healthcare policy engines, which are the heart of our cloud-native, distributed, healthcare payment integrity solution.  These highly performant engines handle millions of claim lines per day while meeting service level agreements for turnaround time.

Currently written in Python and based on policies defined by our internal Clinical Content team, we continually expand the coverage of our policy engines and work to optimize performance of the existing system.  As a senior member of the technical staff and a key contributor to the Engines team, you will play a critical role in building new engines in the current architecture as well as implementing new architectures and designs for extensive new functionality that supports more direct configuration by our clients and further improves performance.  You will collaborate closely with software engineers and data scientists to bring machine learning models into our product suite.

This position requires a customer-first, quality-oriented mindset.  If you’re interested in joining a data-driven organization where you will build code to parse, validate, process and manage enormous volumes of data while performing complex analyses quickly and accurately then you should apply for this position!

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, maintain and improve Python packages that implement healthcare policies and concepts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and define machine learning opportunities that align with our product roadmap
  • Select, develop, train and deploy machine learning models using Python, standard ML frameworks, and off-the-shelf ML tools that can integrate into our tech stack
  • Serve as a technical lead by working with engineering team members on improvements to existing code, implementing new designs and architectures, mentoring other team members to help them grow in expertise and experience
  • Influence the whole Engineering organization to adopt best practices in software development and testing, helping us all develop high-quality, scalable, testable, and maintainable code
  • Collaborate with your engineering peers and build productive relationships with members of the Go-to-Market, Product Management, Clinical Content, and other teams that need our expertise to translate their requirements into coherent technical solutions
  • Participate with internal and external stakeholders to understand the business logic and other requirements (such as refresh latency) for our Web-based payment integrity solution, client data warehouse exports, and one-time/ad-hoc analysis needs

What We Are Looking For

  • 10+ years hands-on experience as a software developer in a professional environment and working with production systems
  • 5+ years of experience working in Python and on Python applications, including Python dependency management, packaging and publishing tools as well as Python libraries commonly used in machine learning
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in data
