Job Overview

The Graduate Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the academic, administrative, operational, enrollment management, and strategic communication functions of assigned graduate programs within the College of Arts and Sciences. The Graduate Program Coordinator reports to the Department Chair and collaborates closely with faculty, university offices, students, alumni, and external stakeholders to advance program goals and operations.

This position serves as a key operational and strategic partner in managing the day-to-day functions of assigned programs, with responsibilities spanning enrollment management, admissions and merit aid administration, marketing and communications, student and faculty support, event coordination, and program operations. The incumbent designs and implements recruitment and yield strategies to support enrollment goals, manages admissions workflows and communications, and oversees digital outreach efforts including website management, social media, marketing materials, and public relations initiatives to raise program visibility and engagement. The role also requires awareness of financial policies, program expenditures, and the operational implications of budget-related decisions associated with events, financial aid, and other program activities.

In collaboration with the department’s Business Manager and Administrative Coordinator, the Graduate Program Coordinator also supports academic and administrative operations by coordinating course scheduling and registration processes, assisting with program assessment and reporting, supporting research and student engagement activities, and ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures. In addition, the position plans and executes special events such as orientations, commencement activities, academic programming, alumni engagement events, and recruitment initiatives while monitoring budgets and operational logistics.

The role requires strong collaboration, organizational, communication, analytical, and project management skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic academic environment. Duties may also include broader program support functions related to alumni relations, community development, and other operational needs as assigned by program leadership.

Work Interactions

This position reports to the Department Chair and works closely with the department’s Business Manager and Administrative Coordinator, faculty, and alumni. The incumbent will call, email, and meet with prospective students. They will work closely with all functional areas within the College Dean’s Office staff as well as prospective students, current students, alumni, vendors/suppliers, industry connections, and many other audiences. The incumbent will liaise with other Georgetown University offices such as Graduate Admissions, University Registrar, Office of Global Services, Student Financial Services and Financial Affairs and other academic units.

The incumbent should demonstrate a proactive and adaptable approach to their work, remaining responsive to the evolving needs of the program and university community.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in higher education.

  • Commitment to student success as part of an equitable and diverse community.

  • Working knowledge of enrollment management and admissions best practices.

  • Exceptional communication skills in writing, editing, public speaking, and customer service.

  • Strong analytical, financial, and documentation skills; experience using data to understand historical trends to drive and support decision making, linking strategies to outcomes.

  • A self-starter with a proven ability to collaborate and develop best-in-class business models, systems, and procedures to support an exceptional student experience.

  • Events management experience.
