About Baytown

 

With a population of more than 77,000, Baytown, Texas, is located in the Gulf Coast region of the United States, just east of Houston, the nation's fourth largest city. Those who live and work in Baytown will find an area rich in history, as well as opportunities for outdoor activities due to its proximity to scenic waterways, namely Galveston Bay, the San Jacinto River and Buffalo Bayou.

 

Founded in 1919, ExxonMobil's Baytown Complex is located on approximately 3,400 acres along the Houston Ship Channel, about 25 miles east of Houston. Employing a workforce of more than 8,500, it is comprised of four manufacturing sites, including one in nearby Mont Belvieu, and a global technology center. These include the Baytown Refinery, one of the largest refineries in the United States, and the Baytown Olefins Plant, one of the largest ethylene plants in the world.

 

Its scope of products includes fuels, lube oils, and chemical compounds used in a diverse range of products, from auto battery cases, diapers and tire inner tubes to pharmaceutical uses, food packaging, trash bags and more.

What role you will play in our team

ExxonMobil is actively recruiting for Electrical Intern candidates. Candidates must be currently enrolled in an Electrical degree program to be eligible OR have obtained an Associate of Applied Science - Electrical Technology Degree.

 

What you will do

 

• Receive daily schedule and to determine activities to be performed
• Dismantles/troubleshoots electrical machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts
• Installs and maintains various types of motors, motor control systems, motored operated valves, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers and transformers
• Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacements
• Interprets drawings, electrical one-line drawings, electrical schematics and performs work by these or verbal instructions
• Lays out, assembles, installs, tests, repairs, and adjusts electrical fixtures, apparatus, equipment, wiring, and new services to include panels, breakers, and conduit
• Mounts motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications
• Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments
• Troubleshoots and repairs electric controls, motor control centers, and programmable logic controls
• Performs preventive maintenance on high voltage substations, transformers, breakers, and distribution panels
• Installs and inspects various types of conduit installations
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
•  Receives training in new or changes in codes, procedures and processes relating to the industrial electrical field
• Position does not include travel expense reimbursement or relocation

 

Must be able to work in a variety of environments that include both fieldwork and deskwork. Minimum requirements include: 

 

• Maintaining constant awareness of personal safety and the safety of all other personnel. This includes knowledge of unit operation, procedures, and rules.
