Job Description

The incumbent is responsible for the following within the central MTS Finance department for Europe:

• Responsible for all general ledger and subledger activities (including monthly, quarterly and annual statements) for all European subsidiary companies including the direct MA
• Managing external tax and accounting partners
• Cooperating with the Global Test Controller Europe in the implementation of strategies in order to increase productivity and improve resource utilization and communicating with Sales and Operations
• Optimizing for greater efficiency and effectiveness in financial processes and ensuring a suitable internal control environment
• Successfully advancing and supporting strategic projects in the Finance department with the Global Test Controller Europe

General ledger: Responsible for all general ledger activities for all European branches. In various countries: ensuring the preparation and punctual submission of monthly, quarterly and annual US GAAP statements according to the corporate schedule. Proactive partner for Corporate Accounting. Ensuring local GAAPs are prepared by external tax and accounting partners where required. Coordinating and managing relations with these partners. Managing all audit activities in responsibility, for US and local GAAPs.

Subledger: Responsible for managing employees in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and receivables management. Responsible for fixed asset accounting, billing travel costs and payment transactions; central controlling of order management. These tasks are performed at MTS Systems (Germany) GmbH in Berlin for the following countries (France, Italy, England, Sweden, and Netherlands.

Compliance: Ensuring the financial controls are appropriate and the Corporate Finance policies and procedure are followed to safeguard the company’s assets.  Conducting financial controls (e.g. account reconciliation). Ensuring US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley and statutory provisions are observed. Supporting internal and external audit processes and requirements.

Taxation: Supporting professional partner companies in preparing local tax declarations. Proactive partnership with the Corporate Tax department in Minneapolis in order to support corporate and US tax requirements including audits and the preparation of tax declarations.

Monitoring the profitability of the branches in the area of responsibility according to US GAAP and local GAAP. Proactively proposing measures in the event of deficient profitability. Managing and supporting measures to improve profitability.

Supporting the Treasury department in relation to global cash balances, risk management and requirements for forecasted cash needs. Ensuring compliance with the corporate investment policy.

Miscellaneous:
Covering for the Global Test Controller Europe in commercial matters in the event of sickness or holiday absences (mainly balance sheet and project enquiries) Travel will be required for up to 15% of working time.

Qualifications

• Completed university education (e.g. business administration) or at least a two year specialist technical college education program
• Several years of specialist professional experience and required technical expertise
• Necessary technical and specialist expertise or specialist further training:
• Balance sheet accounting (Chamber of Industry and Commerce)
• Knowledge of US GAAP
• Knowledge of SOX, international accounting, tax affairs as well as cost analysis and budgeting
• Business-fluent English
