Job Description

The Department of Agriculture, Veterinary and Rangeland Sciences (AVRS) at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a non-tenure track Lecturer II/Teaching Assistant Professor position starting July 1, 2025. This position will be an integral component of the University of Nevada, Reno and the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources.

Teaching responsibilities include instruction in both introductory and advanced undergraduate courses, as well as mentoring of undergraduate students enrolled in the Veterinary, Agriculture, and Rangeland Science majors. Applicants should demonstrate strong evidence of effective teaching, curriculum development, and advising/mentorship of undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds. The candidate must be able to work in a multi-cultural setting and create an environment that fosters collegiality, diversity and teamwork while contributing to our institutional and departmental missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach three to four undergraduate courses per academic year, including Range-Livestock Interactions, Principles of Range Management, Elements of Livestock Production, and Directed Internships.

  • Share responsibility for departmental scheduling and managing course enrollments.

  • Serve as the department’s recruiting coordinator.

  • Contribute general service to the department, college, and professional community.

Required Qualifications

  • Lecturer II- Master’s in Rangeland Ecology, Animal Science, or a closely related field.

  • Teaching Assistant Professor- Ph.D. in Rangeland Ecology, Animal Science, or a closely related field.

  • The successful candidate must demonstrate potential for effectiveness in teaching including a strong desire to mentor and recruit undergraduate students interested in careers in Rangeland Ecology and Management, Animal Science, and Veterinary health care

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a highly interdisciplinary department of professionals

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

Schedule or Travel Requirements

Travel within Nevada and beyond will be required to engage with recruiting networks, prospective students, stakeholder
