General Summary: Product design & customer applications engineering support and production process improvement activity
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
 

  • Responsible for inflator application engineering for assigned customer programs and inflator technologies.  Responsibilities in this area include support to customer applications & launch activities, establishing and tracking program timing information, preparation of customer validation test plans, data summaries and reports, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external customers and liaison with manufacturing operations to aid product launch activities.
  • Inflator ballistic tuning to meet system-level occupant restraint requirements, release of engineering documentation including test plans, product specifications and reports. Responsible for the planning and hands-on administration of prototype builds to assure on-time delivery to customers.
  • Gain awareness of and support design, validation and release of airbag inflator assemblies in accordance with the Global Development Product Evolution Process (GDPEP).
  • Use of engineering tools such as fault tree analysis, FMEA, statistical analysis, root cause analysis and margin testing.  Application of Six Sigma tools in support of engineering efficiency and production process improvement projects.
  • Effective communication and active participation within global Inflator Engineering project teams.
  • This position will support assigned engineering projects and assisting experienced engineers.
     

Ability:

Working knowledge of basic statistics (Minitab), MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Must have strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work in team environment. Broad knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within Engineering
Self-starter, good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Education:

BS Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace)
 

 

Experience:

0 – 2 years of experience (internship/co-op included)

Must have strong mechanical background.
 

Physical Requirements:

Must have hand dexterity at moderate speed with accuracy for half of each day. Requires steady, active effort and continuous walking. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in all areas of the plant.
