About the role

The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.
The Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) is a physician who is responsible for providing clinical leadership, vision and direction of multi-disciplinary teams across multiple service areas and facilities to provide quality, integrated health care and clinical services to homeless and at-risk families and individuals.  The CCO will work collaboratively with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure that all Colorado Coalition for the Homeless (CCH) programs provide consistent and quality clinical services.  The CCO will provide direct clinical supervision of medical, psychiatric, dental, pharmacy, nursing leadership within their appropriate scope of practice in coordination with the VP of Integrated Health Services, and provide oversight of clinical functions in housing and service programs in coordination with the VP of Housing and Support Services to ensure quality and appropriate clinical services throughout all programs of CCH.

Essential Job Functions 

  • Provides direct supervision of medical, psychiatric, dental, pharmacy, and nursing leadership within their appropriate scope of practice in coordination with VP of Integrated Health Services.
  • Provides clinical oversight of clinical services provided though CCH Housing and Service Programs in coordination with VP of Housing and Support Services.
  • Provides direct service to patients/consumers of CCH at various sites (at least 4 hours per week) in order to keep abreast of changing patient/consumer needs.
  • Serves as a member of Executive Team, and serves on various ad hoc committees within CCH as well as external boards and committees to represent and provide leadership regarding issues of homelessness and health care.
  • Participates in the planning and execution of Quality Improvement activities and reviews.
  • Participates in the creation and development of health care related programs and educational in-services that will provide meaningful responses to the health needs of the homeless as well as educating the public.
  • Provides leadership, consultation, and training in organizational development efforts with regard to health care services.
  • Establishes, strengthens and maintains relationships with outside agencies, stakeholders and community organizations to promote collaboration and enhance the service delivery system.
  • Expands service capacity by seeking funding opportunities and by participating in the preparation of proposals for funding (grant writing).

Qualifications Summary 

  • Knowledge of homeless issues and demonstrated sensitivity to under-served populations.
  • The ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across multiple service areas and facilities
  • Knowledge of health care accreditation; Medicaid and Medicare regulations; PCMH, ACO and managed care efforts.
  • Possess a systems approach to problem solving, consensus building and process improvement
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Ability to negotiate and mediate, particularly in sensitive situations.
  • Must embrace the mission and philosophy of recovery and client centered services.
  • Must pass Colorado Bureau of Investigation check.
  • Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License and meet CCH insurance eligibility.

  • Current Colorado licensure as an M.D./D.O. with Board Certification in a clinical specialty area, or ability to achieve such within six months of
