About the role

Safety Worxs is seeking a Spanish/English Bilingual Safety Trainer local to Norfolk, VA to join our dynamic team in a roadway project. 

Responsibilities:

 

The Safety Trainer will be responsible for developing and delivering training programs that ensure compliance with federal and state safety regulations. Duties include the following:

  • Deliver safety orientation and onboarding training for new hires and subcontractors. 
  • Develop, schedule, and lead training sessions on topics including (but not limited to):
    • Fall Protection
    • Confined Space Entry (CSE)
    • Excavation and Trenching
    • Forklift and MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms)
    • Silica Awareness
    • Hazard Communication (HAZCOM)
    • First Aid/CPR
    • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 
  • Maintain accurate training records and certifications in alignment with OSHA and company policy.
  • Perform job site visits to conduct field-based training, safety coaching, and toolbox talks.
  • Support the client representative in analyzing incident trends and identifying training needs.
  • Ensure training materials are updated regularly and reflect current regulations and client standards.
  • Assist in the development of job safety analysis (JSA) and site-specific safety plans.
  • Partner with client representatives to schedule and prioritize training.
  • Support audits and inspections by ensuring employee training documentation is current and accessible.
  • Promote a positive safety culture by engaging employees at all levels

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of safety training experience, preferably in construction or heavy civil environments
  • OSHA 500 Certification
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 standards and other applicable safety regulations. 
  • Experience with adult learning principles and hands-on training delivery. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. 

Preferred:

  • Current BCSP CIT (Certified Instructional Trainer) 
  • Local, no per diem for this role.
