ROLE OVERVIEW

Data is crucial to scientific discovery. Data is what helps scientists develop life changing products that ultimately can save lives or improve our well being. Today, most scientists rely on desktops to access Benchling, but the science isn’t limited to their desktop; it can be anywhere in the lab or even in the great outdoors. This is why we’re focusing on creating a mobile Benchling experience that helps scientists do their job efficiently without being tethered to their desktop. 

The Mobile team is focused on building out mobile-specific functionality that will enable scientists to do their job on the go while building a foundation that teams across Benchling will be able to utilize to bring their products on to Benchling’s mobile application. 

The Forms team is focused on developing platform components that power user experiences to help scientists capture data when conducting their work (e.g. conducting studies, developing drugs).

This position is based in San Francisco, CA. Consequently, we are only considering candidates who are based in the SF Bay Area or are open to relocating to the SF Bay Area to work a hybrid schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Define the Mobile & Forms product roadmap alongside your product development team
• Obsess over our customers, constantly refining your understanding of their needs, how we can make them more productive, and the market opportunities they represent
• Develop a deep understanding of the Benchling product, including its strengths and weaknesses, that is informed by Benchling’s capabilities and our customers’ core jobs to be done
• Partner with strategy, sales, and marketing to successfully bring new products to market
• Measure the impact of your team and work by defining success metrics, tracking progress, and adapting your plans based on insights from that data
• Contribute to developing and maintaining our Product culture at Benchling

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of product management experience working on digital products
• Preference for significant experience building B2B/enterprise and mobile products 
• Successfully have shipped products that have delivered impact to both customers and the business by collaborating productively with your product development team (e.g. engineering and design) and cross functional partners (e.g. professional services, sales, product marketing) 
• Experiencing talking to users to understand their motivations, relate those motivations to the overall market, and translate that context into the right solution for the user 
• Ability to bring clarity and focus to ambiguous and complex problems using both written and verbal communication

SALARY RANGE

Benchling takes a market-based approach to pay.  The candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and work location. For this role the base salary range is 

• • ZONE 1:  $167,110 - $226,090
