General Summary:
The Director-CTIP (Consortium for Technology & Innovation in Pediatrics) is responsible for the leadership and success of CTIP, overseeing all aspects from recruiting promising startups to providing mentorship, connecting them with investors, and ensuring the program delivers impactful outcomes for participating companies, acting as a key figure in the startup ecosystem by identifying talent, fostering growth, and building relationships with industry partners. The Director will work closely with CTIP’s leaders to define the overall strategy and vision for the program, and then is responsible for executing on that strategy.
Essential Job Functions:
Program Development and Strategy:
Designing and overseeing CTIP’s portfolio services, including workshops, speaker series, indirect support, and mentorship sessions aligned with the program's focus area.
Establishing selection criteria for startups to participate in the accelerator.
Setting key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the program.
Adapting the program to market trends and evolving needs of startups.
Startup Recruitment and Selection:
Sourcing high-potential startups through networking, outreach, and industry connections.
Oversee screening and due diligence on potential startups to assess their fit for the program.
Oversee onboarding process for companies selected for the program.
Mentorship and Coaching:
Matching startups with relevant mentors from the industry.
Providing direct coaching and guidance to startup founders on areas like business development, fundraising, product strategy, and team building.
Investor Relations:
Building relationships with potential investors, including venture capitalists, angel investors, and corporate partners.
Oversee CTIP’s business development, investment, and growth activities, with support from CTIP’s Investment Advisor.
Facilitating introductions between startups and relevant investors when appropriate.
Community Building and Business Development:
Engaging with the wider startup ecosystem through conferences, events, and partnerships.
Developing strategic partnerships and further grow the CTIP network to include corporate partners, foundations, research organizations, and others.
Promoting the accelerator brand and reputation.
Fostering a supportive community among portfolio companies and accelerator partners.
Oversee CTIP’s Consortium Community activities and membership, with support from CTIP staff.
Manage relationships and processes related to CTIP’s Stakeholder Committee.
Lead the planning and implementation of CTIP events.
Operational Management of the Accelerator:
Managing the accelerator team, including Staff hiring, performance, and people management.
Overseeing the financial aspects of the program, including budget management.
Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and reporting requirements.
Develop, implement and achieve performance metrics.
Quality assessment and improvement of CTIP processes and products.
Ensure effective daily operations and business processes.
Plan, oversee, and implement the Direct Device Funding program.
Plan, oversee, and implement federal reporting activities.
Ensure Alignment with Enterprise Innovation Strategic Priorities:
Work closely with I2I, Health@Home, Office of Community and Clinical Trials, and other programs to align CTIP with the rest of the organization’s innovation priorities.
Support vendor selection, evaluation, and referrals for organizational needs.
