The Department of Neurobiology is seeking to hire a motivated Laboratory Assistant to support an NIH-funded research program investigating the genetic mechanisms underlying Rett syndrome and related neurodevelopmental disorders. The incumbent will assist with day-to-day laboratory operations, including mammalian cell culture, organoid maintenance, and single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data analysis. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to innovative neuroscience research in a collaborative laboratory environment focused on advancing the understanding of neural development and disease.
Hourly range: $26.23-$30.93
Job Qualifications

Required:
- Demonstrated skills in mammalian tissue culture. Demonstrated skills working with human pluripotent stem cells.
- Demonstrated skills in conducting cellular differentiation experiments (organoid and non-organoid).
- Demonstrated skills in tissue collection, fixation, processing, and cryosectioning.
- Demonstrated skills in conventional and confocal microscopy. Demonstrated skills in molecular biology (DNA cloning, PCR, plasmid preparation, DNA and RNA extraction).
- Skills in Photoshop and Illustrator, and familiarity with microscopy image collection and processing software applications such as ImageJ, Axiovision, Zen, and Imaris, and statistical analysis programs such as Prism.
- Demonstrated ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational abilities.
- Able to maintain complete and accurate records.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non- technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff; technical, students, faculty and administrators
- Self-motivated and works independently
