Your Role:

As a Security Manager at Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany (EMD Serono), you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our organizational assets, information, and personnel. You will lead security program development, manage third-party security vendors, and ensure compliance with corporate security policies and standards to mitigate risks and respond to incidents efficiently.

 

Who You Are:

• Act as Owner, the site security officer (SSO) is responsible for development, implementation, and management of a comprehensive security program for all EMD Serono US sites.
• Be Curious, conduct regular risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities, potential threats, and develop risk mitigation plans.
• Foster and promote a positive security culture, develop and deliver security awareness briefings, employee trainings, and awareness campaigns.
• Drive organizational resilience through development and implementation of crisis management and business continuity programs.
• Oversee third-party security contracts and manage security systems, including access control, surveillance, and alarm systems.
• Optimize Incident Command Center operations, defining clear goals and objectives, develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan, enhancing operational capabilities.
• Routinely assess physical security technologies and manage their life cycle.
• Manage security incident response planning and execute tabletop exercises.
• Ensure adherence to corporate security standards, manage internal and external audit processes, including audits at 3PL sites.
• Plan and execute event security protocols and provide executive protection support in coordination with corporate security.
• Liaise with regional and corporate security teams to align policies and best practices.
• Maintain thorough documentation and reporting via corporate tools such as IRIS.
• Collaborate with IT to ensure business-managed security systems comply with our company IT standards.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in security management, corporate security, or a related field.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven experience in managing Business Continuity and Crisis Management programs.
• Excellent risk assessment and incident response skills.
• Strong knowledge of security systems (access control, surveillance, alarms).
• Experience managing third-party security vendors and contractors.
• Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams and corporate security units.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication skills.

 

Location: Onsite support at Billerica and Boston (Seaport) Sites
