Dairy Food Sales, Marketing & Analytics Internship 

Step into the world of a Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) company and represent some of America’s top dairy brands. Gain valuable experience by completing rotations on the Sales, Marketing, and Research, Insights, & Analytics teams. 

 

What will I learn? Gain exposure to Sales, Marketing, Insights & Analytics, and other cross-functional teams to understand how a CPG company operates. Learn about the Retail and Foodservice business from multiple perspectives including channels, formats, retailers/operators, competitors, and shoppers/patrons. Learn category management techniques, develop an analytical thought process and build your presentation skills. Work in a Team environment, including working closely with past interns. Develop group presentation skills and build your personal confidence. 

 

What are my rotations as an intern? 

Sales Rotation: Support key customers like Target, Kroger, Walmart, Publix, Stop & Shop, Sysco, and more.  

Project examples: Analyze a customer’s product assortment to present an opportunity for increased distribution, Create a presentation for a buyer with a promotion strategy recommendation. 

Marketing Rotation: Support the brand marketing team and help grow some of America’s top food brands. 

Project examples: Analyze an emerging segment in food and provide insights around the 4 P’s; Provide input to the innovation by pipeline by analyzing competitive items and identifying gaps. 

Analytics Rotation: Support the Research, Insights, and Analytics team by leveraging data and insights to grow the business.  

Project examples: Learn category management techniques, data visualization, and data analysis skills on the Customer Insights & Analytics team, create a data-driven selling story to support new item innovation, analyze promotion and pricing to provide a recommendation, utilize market research in the restaurant industry to identify opportunities for innovation. 

 

Enterprise Engagement 

Get involved in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion projects with exposure to our ERGs (Employee Resource Groups) which include Women Leadership Network, African Ancestry, Asian Affinity, Pride Alliance, and many more.  

 

What is the next step after the internship? 

Join Land O’Lakes full-time as a Dairy Foods Analyst supporting Sales, Marketing, or the Research, Insights, & Analytics team. Further develop an analytical thought process, presentation skills, and support cross-functional teams. The Land O’Lakes Mentor Program will expose you to future roles within the organization and begin to build the critical knowledge and skills required for those roles.
