We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our team. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for creating computer applications that allow users to do specific tasks and may also design applications that support the underlying systems that run the devices or control networks. Primary focus will be on the design and R&D phases of the software development life cycle.

• Research new concepts and algorithms as it relates to the assigned programs.
• Creative application of designs to solve challenging customer problems.
• Analyze users’ needs and then design and develop prototypes and/or concepts to meet those needs.
• Understand and apply machine learning concepts to solve assigned problems and inform designs.
• Design specific pieces of an application or system and plan how the pieces will work together as assigned.
• Prepare documentation of designs to communicate results and share ideas with teams.
• Ensure that a program continues to function normally through software maintenance and testing.
• Document every aspect of an application or system as a reference for future maintenance and upgrade.
• Develop software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation as required.
• Provide subject matter guidance to peers within the group and company.
• Responsibly and respectfully interact with customers and suppliers to ensure customer satisfaction and project alignment.
• Analyze and solve complex and unique problems across projects using innovative solutions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Maintain US Citizenship.
• Maintain Security Clearance.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to be flexible and learn new concepts and technologies on the job.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with programming languages (JAVA, C/ C++, Python/TensorFlow/Scikit-Learn, MATLAB, and ML frameworks).
• Familiarity with streaming data processing frameworks such as Kafka / Spark/ Hadoop is a plus.
• Familiarity with Functional Programming concepts and styles a plus.
• Ability to work effectively with senior engineers, and translate results from complex analytics into elegant data products.
• Strong coding skills in a modern object-oriented language (e.g., C#, Java, C++).
• Ability to work effectively and comfortably with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and support staff.

Education/Training/Experience:

• BS or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related required.
• BS, 5-8 yrs. work experience; or MS, 3-6 yrs. work experience; or PhD, 0-3 yrs. work experience.
• Proven record of technical leadership in their job area.

Physical demands

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
