About the role
The Senior Tax Analyst is a critical participant in the processing of intercompany transactions, research, and reconciling sales and purchase transactions. This position reports internally to the Senior Tax Manager, but will interface with other Company departments, as well as outside vendors, consultants, and taxing authorities.
Duties include:
- Managing the procurement process from start to finish. These activities include getting the PO request to creating the OTS (inter-company offer to sell), tracking OTS timely approval, creating or modifying the PO to the vendor, tracking receipt of goods, tracking vendor invoicing, and invoicing to S-W and tax determination and calculation.
- Review purchase/sales transactions and apply applicable state and local tax rules to determine taxability.
- Process and manage activities necessary to initiate, complete and reconcile the company’s purchases and sales.
- Maintain tracking tools for document retention and archival to adhere to audit requirements.
- Identifying and resolving invoicing discrepancies and tax issues through periodic research and review of processed purchase/sales transactions and the assigned taxability and modify & refine tax specific systems and processes to resolve the issues.
- Perform month end activities required to close the books for the month. Activities include preparing and uploading journal entries, completing balance sheet account reconciliations, month end analytical reviews, and reconciling tax accounts.
- Prepare monthly transaction reporting by vendor, commodity, and business unit to collect, analyze and summarize data, seeking potential business enhancements to present to personnel within the S-W Tax department.
- Prepare and file moderately complex month-end sales and use tax returns, business licenses, and registrations in multiple different state and local jurisdictions, as required by law, utilizing Oracle and MS Excel. Research and maintain filing jurisdiction requirements to ensure compliance.
- Set up and train new S-W buyers and the corresponding vendors on the processes of Acquire Sourcing, LLC. Manage document requirements related to purchases, sales, and vendor relationships for various transactions and monitor vendor adherence to contractual terms.
- Participate in required trainings to understand the Company systems.
- Prepare reports and documents as required to document processes. Ensure internal policies and procedures are accurately followed.
- Perform routine administrative and other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; will consider relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- 3+ years of experience in Accounting/Finance with a focus on Tax
- Ability to multi-task and be highly organized.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Excellent communication and analytical/problem solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
