The Senior Scientist Product will provide product leadership for Discovery Innovation for Garments. As a member of the R&D Team, you’ll collaboratively lead product development and innovation through seed idea, MVC, MVP, and MVT ensuring a successful handover to D&C teams. This role will create ideas and develop learning plans to validate the innovation. You’ll work in conjunction with Research and Development Team Members and cross-functional partners from Marketing, Sales, I&A, and Global R&D and Marketing.  As a Senior Scientist, you’ll report to an R&D Manager and receive work direction from the Manager and Technical Leader.  This role will give work direction, coaching, and mentoring to 3-8 indirect team members.

In this role you will:

  • Provide product leadership across the Garments Discovery programs and seed ideas

  • Lead claims and Benefit Visualizations across Pull-Ups® and Goodnites® to bring our product benefits to life

  • Working with the R&D project leads, Marketing, and I&A team as well as Personal Care R&E, develop learning plans and execute them, as well as mentor other more junior scientists on the team

  • Lead the interaction with the Marketing team to ensure product design is meeting our concept and is on strategy

  • Protect and defend K-C proprietary product and technology through the appropriate use of patents and trade secrets

  • Document key learnings and significant research findings in a searchable, retrievable format and coach junior team members in their documentation practices

  • Ensure all work complies with corporate safety, regulatory, product safety and sustainability requirements 

  • Interface effectively with the other work stream teams to ensure business success

  • Mentor junior scientists

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university

  • 5+ years of experience in project management and/or product development   

  • Proven track record of effectively communicating to and influencing leaders and team members across all levels of the R&E and cross-functional organization

  • Experience with developing learning plans and executing consumer research

  • Demonstrated ability to provide work direction to team members not in a direct reporting relationship

  • Experience with consumer products

  • Ability to travel 10-20%, in-country and/or international

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or apparel design related field

  • 7+ years of relevant experience
