Description:
This position will consist of 8 hour shifts in a 4 week cycle of 3 weeks in a day shift and 1 week of evenings, and every 4th weekend rotation.
Indiana University Health Adult Academic Health Center (IUH AAHC), Department of Pharmacy is recruiting a clinical pharmacy generalist to join our inpatient medical/surgical team. The team member will provide decentralized comprehensive clinical care to patients with severe or complex illnesses. Additionally, this position will support the inpatient pharmacy operations department in multiple areas such as medication preparation and verification, compounding, distribution of medications, and inventory management. The successful candidate is highly motivated, resourceful, and has outstanding leadership and communication skills.

Our pharmacy practice model includes a multifaceted approach to supporting our patients and healthcare staff, by combining decentralized clinical generalists, clinical specialists, operations specialists, and technicians to meet patients’ needs in a comprehensive manner. Pharmacists are an integral aspect of patient care at IU Health, with a strong presence and excellent relationships with providers and nursing partners across all specialties. The ideal candidate has experience providing pharmacist services and advancing practice in the setting of adult medical and/or post-operative care.
Responsibilities:
• Providing clinical decentralized pharmacy services in internal medicine setting
• Monitoring and intervening drug therapy to improve patient outcomes
• Addressing dosing consults (antibiotics, anticoagulants, etc.) including adjustments and documentation
• Precepting student pharmacists and PGY1 pharmacy residents
• Developing strategies to continuously improve the quality and provision of pharmacy services
• Ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards • Answering drug information questions and resolving medication-related issues for nurses and providers on assigned unit
• Participating in multi-disciplinary, clinical rounds on dedicated unit for collaborative medication recommendations • Assisting with all functions required for medication processing including answering telephones, verifying orders, checking technician prepared medications, preparing medications for delivery
Qualifications:
• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or registered pharmacist license
• Completion of PGY1 Residency, preferred
• Board certification in pharmacotherapy, preferred
• Requires current Indiana License or eligibility for Indiana licensure as a pharmacist.
• Successful completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 and/or PGY2 pharmacy residency may be required.
