Software Engineer – Ready Team
Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies, Software R&D
As a member of the Software R&D Ready Team, your mission is to leverage the knowledge and innovation of our department to more effectively serve our current customers. We do this using a three pillared approach – leveraging emerging technologies, improving software processes, and rapidly responding to high priority support issues including cybersecurity, safety, and high priority business disruptors. We look for team members who thrive in dynamic environments, embrace change, and who are willing and able to learn new skills to solve novel problems.
A day in the life: As a Software Engineer, you will primarily balance your time between the pillars of emerging technology and high-priority support, the balance of which may shift on a day-to-day basis. If urgent support issues arise, you will pivot to provide support which may include investigations into device functionality, code reviews, documentation reviews, or system testing. The outcome could be informational feedback to the service teams, a software tool for service to use to address an issue, or a software patch that is deployed to the field. When not addressing these urgent issues, you will be investigating and demonstrating the feasibility of the application of emerging and existing technology to improve our current product offerings, including improving or extending current functionality.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Complex Technical Problem Solving
You will serve as a high-level technical expert and lead technical investigations, design and implementation of field solutions including software patches, tools, and process changes. These issues are frequently of an urgent nature with high visibility across the organization. - Leveraging New Technology to Improve Existing Products
You will both contribute to and lead projects to improve current products and services by demonstrating the feasibility of new features and functionality using current and emerging technologies.
YOUR AREAS OF EXPERTISE
- Solutions oriented mindset, embraces change
- High-level of proficiency in modern C++ (11/14/17/20)
- Experience developing with real time operating systems, including VxWorks
- Team player, comfortable working with cross-functional engineers
- Comfortable working hands-on with devices both in office and in clinical and lab spaces
