Senior Staff Software Engineer, ML Platform

As a Senior Staff Engineer on the Machine Learning Platform team at Liftoff, you will: 

• Design and implement systems that are steadfast and cost-effective. Ensure these systems can expand as required. They will be used for training and operating sophisticated machine learning models.
• Adopt or build new technologies and tools to help increase velocity of ML modeling teams.
• Help shape our long-term ML Platform strategy and roadmap.
• Work with a skilled team of ML, Software, and Infrastructure engineers who are building our next generation ML platform for Liftoff.
• Utilize vendor-based products (AWS, etc.) including open-source technologies such as PyTorch and PySpark and custom in-house tooling.

Requirements: 

• Deep coding ability (any backend language)
• Solid core CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, architecting systems)
• 8+ years of industry experience
• 3+ years Machine Learning tooling or platforms, in particular when applied to large scale problems
• Experience with Go and Python is a plus
• An affinity for quality and excellence, and the ability to temper it when necessary to ship.
• Experience working in high-growth startup atmosphere is a plus.
• Previous technical lead experience.
• Experience with NVIDIA Triton, PyTorch, or PySpark is a big plus.

Location:

This role eligible for full-time remote work in one of our entities: CA, CO, ID, IL, FL, GA, MA, MI, MN, MO, NC, NJ, NV, NY, PA, OR, TX, UT, and WA. We are a remote-first company with US hubs in Redwood City, Los Angeles, and NYC.

Compensation:

Liftoff offers all employees a full compensation package that includes equity and health/vision/dental benefits associated with your country of residence. Base compensation will vary based on candidate location and experience. The following are our base salary ranges for this role: 

SF Bay Area, NYC, Los Angeles/Orange County: $290,000 - $315,000

Seattle/Olympia, Austin, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Boston: $265,000 - $290,000

All other cities and towns in our approved states: $250,000 -$275,000
