This is a full-time position that requires daily in-office and performs field work as needed at our facilities located throughout Broward County.
This position requires current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. The Department of Health is unable to provide employment visa sponsorship.
This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) position and as such no paid time off is offered. Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment. OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan.

DESCRIPTON OF DUTIES
This position is responsible for conducting the day-to-day operations and activities of DOH-Broward’s Workplace Safety & Loss Prevention Program. This program includes a risk management and safety component. The essential functions of this position are as follows: Assists DOH-Broward’s Safety Coordinator with all aspects of the operation of the Workplace Safety & Loss Prevention Program. Assists DOH-Broward’s Workers’ Compensation Coordinator with all aspects of the operation of the Workers’ Compensation program. Assists DOH-Broward’s Information Security and Privacy Coordinator with incident reporting.
Conducts spot checks and formalized inspections of building facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with all occupational safety and health statutes, rules, regulations, and Department of Health policies and procedures. Conduct fire drills and post drill evaluations.
Orient to all new employees on occupational safety and health related issues to include best practices in safe work methods and habits.
Investigates reports and complaints concerning employee safety and health, and maintains records and reports of those investigations and inspections. Identify occupational safety and health risks that would cause employee injury and/or financial loss. Recommends corrective action to mitigate identified risks. Provides technical assistance in developing and updating local policies and procedures relating to workplace safety.
Facilitates DOH-Broward’s Safety Liaison Program.
Performs other related duties as may be assigned or directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Willing to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.
