Job Description

SUMMARY:

The School of Computing (SoC) is welcoming applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor in Cybersecurity to join our innovative team at Montclair State University. We are looking for a colleague who is familiar with Cybersecurity industry standards and certifications and is passionate about teaching in areas such as Linux physical and virtual lab, cloud infrastructure AWS, Cyber threats modelling and analysis, algorithmic thinking, mathematical, inferential thinking, statistical mechanics with lab-based tools for simulation and analysis and Cyber Defense and Resiliency and want to leverage Montclair’s NJ location to shape the next generation of cybersecurity education.

We are looking to hire a creative and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor starting Fall 2025 who will be able to support the school for a variety of cybersecurity curricular design and teaching activities related to inspiring and educating students through engaging courses in Linux physical and virtual lab, cloud infrastructure AWS, Cyber threats modelling and analysis, algorithmic thinking, mathematical, inferential thinking, statistical mechanics with lab-based tools for simulation and analysis and Cyber Defense and Resiliency using experimental and experiential learning approaches. They will have a particular interest to craft and develop cutting-edge cybersecurity courses relevant to industry standards and certifications such as NSA accreditation and Cybersecurity industry standards and certifications such as CCNA, CISSP and SANS.

The candidate will be expected to lead an exciting cybersecurity and cyber resiliency related pedagogical design, learning and instruction with designing hands on cybersecurity labs and sandbox for penetration testing and offensive and defensive attack and tolerance in line with the industry standards and certifications. We are particularly interested to hear from someone who can bring fresh perspectives to both undergraduate and graduate-level cybersecurity teaching and bring passion to mentor both graduate and undergraduate students, fostering their growth and innovation. We are looking for candidates who will further help shape the future of our school by contributing to new programs development, including a Cybersecurity certificate and industry-oriented programs, online master's degree and a Ph.D. program.
