BACKGROUND

Purpose of Activity/ Assignment:

The Child Protection and Development (CPD) team within the Data and Analytics Section covers a number of topics including birth registration, child labour, child marriage, female genital mutilation, violence against children and children living outside of family care. The CPD team is also responsible for statistics and data on early childhood development (ECD). The CPD team work in the area of child protection includes: supporting the collection of nationally representative data through the Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS); maintaining global databases on key indicators; methodological work to develop new data collection and monitoring tools and questionnaires in the area of child protection and ECD, including on issues measured by SDG indicators; conducting data analyses; undertaking capacity-building; and disseminating data on child protection in a variety of ways including through flagship publications, thematic data-driven publications and brochures and statistical country profiles.

The purpose of this consultancy is to provide support to the CPD team with respect to some specific topics within child protection, namely violence, child marriage and children with disabilities. The consultant will be supervised by the Senior Adviser, Statistics, Child Protection and Development within the Data and Analytics Section.

Scope of Work:

The consultant will be responsible for undertaking capacity-building efforts and outreach/dissemination initiatives.

Specific Tasks:

  • Undertake and facilitate capacity-building efforts, workshops and initiatives
  • Support the enhancement of data portal

1.Coordinate and support the review, enhancement and updating of the Child Marriage Data Portal and the ICVAC webpage a by reviewing content, organizing call with vendor, coordinating any enhancement required and review changes

  • Feedback form to gather inputs from reference group
  • Summary report on enhancement requirements
  • List of vendors and quotes to perform enhancements
  • Report summarizing changes to the implemented enhancements

- Support the development and implementation of two calls for proposal for data analyses and related fellowships, including orientation of 10 fellows and dissemination activities of final data analyses

- Support the secretariat in organizing and coordinating 10 Strategic Advisory Group (SAG) Meetings and any follow-up

3. 

- Review the uptake and effectiveness of the Disability, Child Marriage and ICVAC eLearning course to inform future improvements and ensure alignment with participants’ capacity-building needs

- Support the development and implementation of capacity-strengthening activities for participants of past harmful practices workshops (eLearning, online, and in-person) by designing and implementing a survey to identify areas where support is needed

-  Based on the results, coordinate the development of relevant content and organize subsequent webinars/presentations (up to 6 1-hour webinars)
