Job Description
The Junior Copywriter is a Leo Burnett Detroit based team role focused on creative problem solving. Core areas of responsibility includes coming up with strong strategic concepts across multiple brands including GM Genuine Parts, ACDelco, Certified Service, GM Financial, Chevy Performance, GM Powered Solutions and MobileService+. In this role you will be responsible for coming up concepts that range from broadcast to social to digital while maintaining a consistent voice for our client’s brands. This position requires a highly organized individual who can manage multiple projects across multiple brands.
Qualifications
- Creativity: Partner with a Junior Art director to create innovative concepts. Think creatively and translate ideas into copy. Understand the individual brands tone of voice and write compelling on-brand copy. Remain proactive in answering briefs with fresh eyes, while pushing ideas beyond the original ask.
- Teamwork: Mastery of interpersonal skills, including respect and recognition of others, a commitment to taking responsibility of teams and projects, active support of team goals, a passion for great work, and a positive attitude.
- Communication: Highly articulate and strive for the utmost clarification, with effective written, oral and presentation skills. The individual should be self-assertive and possess well-developed listening skills.
- Professionalism: Demonstrate resourcefulness and their dependability in terms of follow-through and problem solving/critical thinking. The individual should perform with integrity, and focus on continual improvement of their credibility, internally and externally to the company. The individual should maintain a professional demeanor in resolving conflicts and show good judgment in their professional activities and relationships.
- Organization: Ability to manage time, workload, multiple projects as well as keeping files, resources, etc organized and efficient. You can handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and prioritize many demands to deliver on the objective
- Work Management: Skilled in maintaining optimum productivity – able to multi-task appropriately, be proactive, and meet all deadlines and meetings punctually. The individual should organize themselves and their work in order to adhere to all requirements in terms of administration, time sheets, and other Client and corporate policies.
LOCATION & TRAVEL
- Position based at Leo Burnett Detroit, Troy, MI
- 3+ days/week in the office (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday or Monday/Wednesday/Thursday or Monday/Wednesday/Friday)
- Occasional travel for productions
EXPERIENCE
- Advertising internship to 1+ years agency experience is preferred
- Automotive aftermarket, auto parts, auto service, auto accessory, or tire marketing knowledge is preferred but not required
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Writing or Creative Portfolio School Certificate or equivalent writing experience
