This position is primarily remote, with occasional visits to a local office or our corporate headquarters for team-building, training, and collaborative project work. These on-site sessions are designed to strengthen connections, share insights, and ensure a seamless experience for our team and customers. Equipment pick-up from a local branch will be required. We will  provide advance notice whenever on-site attendance is required, making these times purposeful and rewarding.

Position Overview:

The Security Automation Software Developer will focus on enhancing Sunrun’s cybersecurity capabilities by automating security processes and developing tools to support vulnerability management. You will design and implement automation solutions that streamline vulnerability detection, analysis, and remediation while improving overall security efficiency and response times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, deploy, and maintain automation tools and systems to streamline vulnerability management and enhance security operations.

  • Design and implement automated processes for vulnerability scanning, detailed reporting, and remediation workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.

  • Collaborate closely with security engineers to identify opportunities for automation and architect scalable, robust solutions that integrate seamlessly into existing systems.

  • Integrate critical security tools and platforms, including SIEMs, vulnerability scanners, and ticketing systems, into automated workflows to enhance data sharing, analysis, and response capabilities.

  • Automate routine vulnerability remediation tasks such as patching, configuration adjustments, and software upgrades, significantly reducing manual intervention.

  • Build and maintain APIs, scripts, and integrations to support and enhance various security processes and ensure seamless automation.

  • Continuously monitor, assess, and optimize automation systems to ensure their reliability, scalability, and high performance.

  • Produce clear technical documentation and deliver training sessions to security teams, ensuring effective adoption and utilization of automated tools and systems.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • 7+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on security automation or related areas.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go.

  • Experience with automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins).

  • Knowledge of vulnerability management tools and platforms (e.g., Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7).

  • Familiarity with security operations, including vulnerability assessment, incident response, and threat detection.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.

  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.

  • Experience with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.

Starting salary/wage for this opportunity:

211,143.32 to 253,371.99
