Manager: Dr. Stephane Bayen, Department of Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry

Position summary: Develop and Run LC- and GC-QTOF-HRMS to establish the chemical fingerprints for plastics, food contact materials, microplastics and environmental samples obtained from various sources. Simultaneously quantify known targeted chemical contaminants, and identify novel contaminants. Develop new tools to increase the confidence in the identification of unknown chemicals (e.g. retention time prediction, ion mobility prediction, etc.).

Qualifications: A PhD degree in a related field (chemistry, food science, biochemistry, etc.). Strong proven background (published work in peer-reviewed journals) in analytical chemistry (non-targeted analysis of plastic related contaminants), food science, and food analysis. Proficiency in different areas of chromatography, high-resolution mass spectrometry and data analysis. At least two first-authored English papers (or three if co-first authors) with submitted, accepted or published status in peer-reviewed journals. Good spoken and written communication skills in English.
